“…whose voice is so good it could advertise heaven…” ~ Charlie Brooker, The Guardian

The angelic tones that The Guardian’s Charlie Brooker is describing belong to Dionne Mitchell.

Long before the media noticed her talent, Dionne had been winning praise since her school days. She could often be found singing in the school hallways or corridors. Dionne recalls one girl in particular who commented on her vocal ability. That was the day she realised her potential to entertain. Building upon this realisation, Dionne took the plunge and began performing at social events such as family gatherings.

She then targeted broader audiences by performing at radio weekenders and making club appearances. Having whet her musical taste buds, Dionne decided to explore new territory. She always had an attraction to the world of musical theatre and landed her first professional role in the musical Syreena’s Song.

She wowed audiences with her vocal prowess and natural flair for acting. After the huge success of the production, Dionne was then asked to join the theatre company where she worked for a couple of years mentoring and facilitating young people in drama and singing-based workshops. However, destiny chose to push her in another direction.

For years, family and friends had been encouraging Dionne to enter the television reality show The X Factor, as they believed it would be a great opportunity for her to showcase her talents to the masses. The audition process was a long and arduous one however as fate would have it Dionne went on to beat 100.000 hopefuls to earn a truly deserved place in the final 12 selected acts. Dionne won over Sharon Osbourne with her unique rendition of Tina Turner’s What’s Love Got To Do With It. Like Tina, Dionne continued to deliver strong and energetic performances to audiences of 10 million. Dionne worked with world-renowned legendary stars such as Rod Stewart, Tony Bennet and Lionel Richie, receiving huge accolades from all three.

Media interest in Dionne continued, as she was a guest on a radio talk show where she rubbed shoulders with Matthew Knowles, who described her vocals as ‘incredible’.

Since leaving the X factor, Dionne has been meeting the voters face-to-face whilst gigging up and down the country, as well as abroad. Currently Dionne is continuing to cement her support base by writing and recording new material and experimenting with different sounds.

So there you have it: Dionne Mitchell, a star who is tangible and has universal appeal because she is REAL and wears her heart on her sleeve.  Dionne is a timeless classic talent who will be around for years to come.
